‘Pick-by-light’ is a common picking system that reduces search times during commissioning and increases accuracy!
With this system, which is already widely used, the employee is shown the position of the goods they are looking for in the warehouse with a (coloured) light on the shelf. The employee is thus guided through the entire picking process. Depending on requirements, the number of goods to be picked can also be displayed, the pick can be acknowledged or corrections can be made. Compared to purely manual picking, pick-by-light increases the speed and accuracy of the work and optimises the entire process!
If this system is supplemented with RFID, it experiences an enormous increase in efficiency! With ‘Pick-by-light with RFID’ or ‘Pick-by-RFID’, individual items, containers, pallets, packaging etc. are labelled with an RFID tag, depending on the customer’s requirements.
After removal by the employee, every movement of the labelled item is registered and recorded using an RFID reader. The reader can be attached to the shelf itself, but also to an order picking trolley or in the form of a gate, e.g. at the warehouse exit.
The information received in this way is processed and forwarded to the warehouse management system. This communication between the hardware and your WMS is provided by our software, which can be easily integrated into all systems.
